Assembly

Production

The production line for the RockPi4B+ is split into 5 sections as described in the process. Three tables should be allocated to provide separation across the processes:

1) On the prepare section, an EtcherPro should be used to receive the incoming HoD order. Only 16 microSD cards will be required across the process and prepared (flashed) only once. Once the microSD cards are flashed they can continue to be reused (without re-flashing) to provision RockPi4B+ devices.

2) In the provision section, the 16 microSD cards from stage 1 will be inserted into the 16 RockPi4B+ devices and powered on, using the supplied power strip via USB C. Upon powering on, the microSD cards will flash the RockPi4B+ internal eMMC. After the internal eMMC is flashed, the RockPi4B+ will power itself off, indicated by the flashing blue LED changing to a 'off' state.

3) After provisioning, the newly provisioned devices should be moved to the test section where they will be verified that provisioning was successful. Connect all the RockPi4B+ via HDMI and USB C cable, then turn on the power to test rig. To pass the test, the each numbered HDMI screen should display the balena bootsplash. Upon passing follow the screen's number back to the numbered HDMI cable, disconnect the device and place it onto the assembly table.

4) To assemble the RockPi4B+ into their cases, the following tools are required: 1 Philips Head Screwdriver (size X) and a container of thermal paste. First, place the 4 standoffs into the RockPi4B+ Case Bottom section. Secondly, place the target RockPi4B+ upside down on the table and apply the predetermined amount of thermal paste onto the CPU. The RockPi4B+ can then be screwed into the based such that the thermal paste is compressed between the base of the case and CPU of the RockPi4B+. Next the center section of the case can be screwed into the base and then the lid screwed into the center section.

5) Finally to package the completed RockPi4B+, the specific number of devices appropriate for the packaging, should be placed side by side into the packaging along side the same number of USB C to 12V power cables.
